Georgia - Cultural Tour

Day 1 - Arrival

Arrival in Tbilisi. Reception by the Georgian tour guide and transfer to the hotel. Overnight stay in Tbilisi.

Day 2 - Capital Tbilisi

Here is the translation for the itinerary:

After breakfast, city tour in Tbilisi: Metechi Church, Bath District, Narikala Fortress, colorful streets with cafes, restaurants, carpet and souvenir shops, old Caravanserai with workshops and a wine museum, Sioni Church.

After lunch, visit the treasury of the National Museum with pre-Christian gold treasures of Georgia.

Orientation drive through the city center and return to the hotel.

Dinner in a traditional restaurant and overnight stay in Tbilisi. (B, D)

Day 3 - Kakheti wine region

Here is the translation for the itinerary:

After breakfast, drive to Sighnaghi, the medieval, picturesque town in the outskirts of Kakheti. During a leisurely walk, you will become familiar with the local lifestyle and architecture and enjoy beautiful photo opportunities with the High Caucasus in the background.

Continue the journey to Inner Kakheti, to the village of Zinandali, to the summer residence of Prince Chavchavadze. This is where the educated aristocracy of the 19th century met for literary and musical evenings. At the end of the 19th century, this house was acquired by the Romanovs as a summer residence for the royal family.

Visit the Mosmieri Winery in the neighboring village, guided tour of the wine cellar, wine tasting, and a late lunch.

Overnight in Telavi. (B, late lunch)

Day 4 - Older capital Mtskheta, Georgian Military Highway, Greater Caucasus

Here is the translation for the itinerary:

After breakfast, drive to Mtskheta, the older and religious capital of East Georgia. From here, Christianity was spread throughout Georgia in the 4th century. Visit the Jvari Monastery (6th century) and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), both UNESCO World Heritage sites.

Next, drive along the Georgian Military Highway to the town of Stepantsminda, where the second-highest mountain in Georgia, Mount Kazbeg (5047m), is located.

Day 5 - Stepanzminda, Gergeti, Gori

Here is the translation for the itinerary:

After breakfast, hike to the Gergeti Trinity Church (14th century) (3-4 hours, 400 meters of elevation gain), with an option to rent a private off-road vehicle on-site.

The church is beautifully surrounded by a stunning mountain panorama. On a clear day, you can enjoy a view of the majestic Kazbeg from here.

After the hike, visit a local family for lunch with homemade local specialties, where you will learn how to prepare chinkali and cheese bread, two excellent Georgian dishes.

Afterwards, drive and overnight stay in Gori (B, L)

Day 6 - Uflitsikhe, Gori, Borjomi, Akhaltsikhe

Here is the translation for the itinerary:

After breakfast, drive to Gori. Opportunity for a photo stop at Stalin's birthplace.

Visit the ancient rock city of Uplistsikhe (7th-6th century BC), originally carved into sandstone cliffs as a pagan temple fortress.

Drive to Borjomi, the spa and mineral water resort in southern Georgia. Take a walk through the 19th-century park. If desired, you can taste the local mineral water.

Afterwards, drive to Akhalsikhe and visit the medieval Rabati Fortress (14th century).

Enjoy dinner in a 19th-century traditional farmhouse with southern Georgian specialties.

Day 7 - Cave City of Vardzia, Javakheti Plateau, Paravani Lake, Elisabeth Valley

After breakfast, drive to Vardzia (12th century), the cave city from the reign of Queen Tamar near the Turkish border. The 13-story complex rises 500 meters high. Visiting Vardzia is the highlight of the day.

Lunch with a local farming family, where they will serve us with traditional cuisine and grilled trout by the Kura River.

Afterwards, drive back to Tbilisi via the Javakheti Plateau, passing mountain lakes.

Enjoy the breathtaking landscape of the Lesser Caucasus along the way.

Stop at the former German village of Elisabethtal (now Asureti).

Check-in at the hotel and farewell dinner. (B, L, D)

Day 8 - Departure

Early in the morning, transfer to the airport and departure. (B)
