Mtskheta, Gori, Ateni, Uflistsikhe

After breakfast, drive to the older and religious capital of eastern Georgia, Mtskheta (4th century BC - 5th century AD). From here, Christianity spread throughout Georgia in the 4th century.

Visit to the Jvari Church (6th century) and the Svetitskhoveli Cathedral (11th century), both UNESCO monuments.

Continue to Gori. Optional photo stop at the Stalin Museum.

Visit to the ancient rock city of Uplistsikhe, a pagan temple fortress (7th-6th century BC) carved into the rock.

Visit to the Ateni-Sioni Church (7th century) in the picturesque Ateni Valley.

Afterward, optional visit to a local private wine cellar, wine tasting with local endemic wine varieties, and early dinner.

Late evening return to Tbilisi.
